TUFFS History

The Michigan Trout Unlimited Fly fishing school started in 1971 as a service to members of Trout Unlimited with the first 3 years at the Higgins Lake Conservation Building.   It grew to be an excellent means to introduce people to the sport and to Trout Unlimited.  And, while continuing in that effort, it now serves to improve the skills of fly fishers at all levels.  No one offers a better school at a better price anywhere.

The instructors are members of Trout Unlimited. They are all experienced anglers and expert fly casters who go through rigorous training and testing before joining the school’s staff.  Some are professional guides and many are Fly Fishers International certified casting instructors.

Because the instructors volunteer their time, you’re assured of help from people who want to share their knowledge and love of the sport.  Profits from the school go to help Michigan Trout Unlimited’s efforts to preserve cold-water fisheries for future generations.  So you’re getting top notch instruction and helping the resource.
